Tigallerro
I've been a fan of Eric Roberson and Phonte's respective catalogs for some years now so it was definitely a high point when I got the call to do the package design and art direction for their long awaited collaboration project "Tigallerro". After several phone conversations with Phonte, who always has great ideas to throw in the bag, we decided to go with a clean and minimal look which doubled as a homage to a couple of past projects we both have in our collections. From the bar code placement on the front of the graphic a la Maxwell's classic Urban Hang Suite album, to the use of Tay's and Erro's cutoff faces on the cover borrowed from Run DMC's King of Rock, we were able to find a good balance of style with the use of complementary colors between the disk and the digipak. This album has been getting great reviews via the several well respected music blogs and this has quickly become one of my favorite releases this year.
